Protect Your Margins

Know exactly what your products cost you. By answering four simple questions, you'll nail down your variable costs using industry benchmarks to ensure your sales forecast is grounded in reality.

Step 1 - Estimate Your Startup Costs

In about 15 minutes, you'll calculate:

  • One-time startup investments — equipment, computers, vehicles, leasehold improvements, and more — including realistic cash down payment estimates, because you rarely pay the full price on day one
  • Monthly operating expenses — rent, payroll, marketing, insurance, utilities, and every recurring cost you need to keep the lights on
  • Months to break-even — how long your cash must last before the business can support itself, with industry benchmark guidance built right in
  • Contingency reserve — a risk-based buffer to protect against delays, cost overruns, and slower-than-expected sales

Step 2 - Create a Funding Plan

In about 10 minutes, you'll calculate:

  • All Equity Sources — owners, partners, family and define when funds should appear in your Cash Flow Statement
  • Income Sources — crowdfunding, grants and awards - classify and link to your Income Statement by Month
  • Debt Financing  — calculate all loan payments and generate loan amortization schedules that print off in your funding report
  • Chart Breakdown — a summary of your Surplus or Short Fall and a chart of how your funding plan is broken down in terms of risk

Step 3 - Forecast Revenues (Base Year)

Go through a real true estimation process for forecasting all revenues:

  • Sizing the Market — An optional step that applies conversion rates to your estimated target audience
  • Pricing out Estimated Product or Service Sales — Includes a guidance chart on how to group products and services for a faster estimation process
  • Other Revenues  — Accounts for Other Income from your funding plan to ensure your revenue forecast is complete
  • Bar Chart Breakdown — Summary breakdown of your product or service sales that are estimated for base year one in your forecasting model

Step 4 - Create Comprehensive Cost Model

Develop a 3-point model covering all cost components for a 12-month period:

  • Cost of Goods Sold — Provides two approaches to calculating Cost of Goods Sold (detail bottoms up or industry top down)
  • Operating Expense — Includes simple listing of common expense categories to jump start the process
  • Non Operating Expenses  — Accounts for non operational expenses to ensure model is complete
